The Three Pillars Of Fun Guitar Playing

Align Your Efforts To Supercharge Your Results

Enjoy greater musicianship and watch your skills multiply when you follow these tried and true pillars of playing guitar.  A solid weekly practice plan will include some variation of all three while giving you some flexibility in how you accomplish your goals.

  • Practice

This pillar requires a lot of focus on the details of what you’re doing.  Every little hand movement will be observed and critiqued for maximum effectiveness.  Practice techniques will be sequential and repetitious to quickly acquire knowledge and skills.

  • Play

This pillar encourages spontaneous expression.  Have fun during this important time with no restraints.  Just play and make music.  More than likely it will be something you have already practiced and can play without much thought.

  • Perform

This pillar will fire up your practice routines.  There’s nothing like a “gig” on Saturday to motivate your Thursday night practice.  It also helps you experience music as a contributor and providing something of value builds confidence.

Real feedback from students and parents

I’ve always perceived learning a musical instrument as this painful, arduous task…but that’s not the case with the way Pasco teaches! He’s been able to break down the guitar lessons so each week becomes a fun, learning experience for my son. Pasco’s positive attitude and encouragement is infectious! It’s always fun to see the ‘lightbulb’ come on when my son learns something new. I thought it was cool that Pasco allowed my son to request popular music that he’s interested in learning to play. My son’s self-confidence has soared and he enjoys sharing his new musical gift.

Michele

I like the fact that each week I learn something new! Pasco doesn’t just tell me what to do, he shows me how, and breaks it down in a creative, fun way so that by the end of each class I can actually play a new song! I also like the fact that he’s a guy and I can relate to him.

Joshua

Love his approach to teaching music to the kind of music that kids request.

Sheri

I feel like you have developed a musical road map for me, and every week I optimistically journey to my next destination never to be disappointed.  It is an awesome and fun experience.

Becky

Pasco rocks.  Just listening to him talk to my son about learning and studying and it's more than guitar.  It's life.  It's  amazing and my son won't stop talking about it.  I'm glad that he can learn from a master that speaks his language and inspires him.

Still Have Questions about Mckinney Guitar Lessons?

Check out these frequently asked questions...

Where are you located?

The home studio is located on Bluffview Drive which is down the street from Mckinney Christian Academy in west Mckinney.  The nearest major intersections include:  Virginia and Jordan, Hardin and White, Community and White.

What kind of guitar should I get?

As a frugal teacher, I recommend starting with the guitar that you own or have access to borrow.  Otherwise, start with an acoustic guitar within your budget.  A good beginner acoustic can be found at your local guitar shop for about $150.  Try at least 5 different guitars to find the one that feels best.  You can start with an electric guitar if you're taking lessons to sound like the electric guitar player in your favorite band.  Added expenses like an amp and cable should be factored in the purchase, as they'll be required.

What are the fees for supplies and tuition?

The average tuition for students is $120 per month.  Please call for current tuition rates and availability.  Your tuition will include: paper materials, access to online resources, and lesson time.  No extra charge will be added to your tuition if your materials require advance preparation.

Do you offer make up lessons?

Our unique make up lesson policy allows you to access an online lesson through your membership portal at a more convenient time.  Simply log on to view your lesson and associated practice routine for the week.  I can't guarantee that it will be as good as our time in person, but it will help you maintain consistency and accountability to your individual goals.

How long does it take to get good?

20 hours of focused practice will produce amazing results you might find shocking.

Which days and times do you offer lessons?

10:00am - 6:00pm Monday through Thursday.
